Bali has turned out to be one of the most popular tourist destinations for South Koreans.
In fact, the Island of the Gods is the 7th tourist destination that is often visited.
"Bali is in the top seven tourist destinations most visited by South Koreans, many of which are chosen by citizens who are on their honeymoon," said South Korean Consul General (Consul General) for Bali Moon Young Ju, Monday (11/22/2021).
Moon explained this when he met the Deputy Governor of Bali, Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati ( Cok Ace ). During the meeting, Young Ju and Cok Ace discussed efforts to strengthen Bali-South Korea cooperation.
"If Koreans know about the cooperative relationship that has been established with Bali, I'm sure more will be interested in visiting here.
Thus, Bali's economy can recover and improve," he said.
On that occasion, Moon also conveyed his love for Bali. For the first time, he set foot in Indonesia 20 years ago and when he was assigned to Jakarta.
Until now he has visited the Island of the Gods dozens of times.
Moon said he had been assigned to the Island of the Gods since the South Korean government officially opened the Consulate General office in Bali in March 2021. He hopes that the presence of a South Korean representative office in Bali will have a positive impact on increasing bilateral cooperation between Bali and South Korea, especially in the tourism sector.
Meanwhile, Cok Ace explained, before the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world, South Korea was included in the group of Asian countries that contributed significantly to the number of foreign tourist visits to Bali.
"In 2018 the number of South Korean tourists was recorded at more than 140 thousand and in 2019 it increased to more than 240. In fact, in early 2020 before Bali was closed due to the pandemic, the number of South Korean tourist visits was recorded at 42,800," he explained.

Cok Ace, who also serves as Chairman of BPD PHRI Bali, said that the number of visits by South Koreans to Bali was included in the top five Asian countries. He hoped that after the pandemic situation gradually improved so that South Koreans returned to visit Bali.
"I hope that the Consul General will inform the South Korean residents of the situation in Bali so that they will not hesitate to visit," he asked.
Cok Ace said that the Indonesian government was currently still enforcing a 3-day quarantine period and his party was working to have the quarantine removed to accelerate the recovery of Bali tourism.
"We also compare it with competitor destinations in Bali, which have implemented zero quarantine," he added.
