Day 1- Fabulous family trip to four of Bali's most famous scenic places to celebrate Indonesia's 75th diamond anniversary.
Believe it or not later on in the morning of the second day after visting Pura Ulun Danu Beratan at dawn we finally got our boys out of bed.
Following a healthy breakfast we headed off for another venture to the Banyumala Twin Waterfalls a short 22 Min Drive.
Thanks to Google maps we were able to find the turn off from the main road on the hill surrounding Lake Buyan.
A very picturesque part of Bali that has become very popular with weekend road warriors driving their small 150 CC motorcycles and thinking they are the Hells Angels.
On the way up we saw as usual plenty of monkeys always eager for a free feed which we did not provide this time.
The turnoff from the main road Jl Raya Wanagiri was so small that we missed it on the first pass.
As we drove down the steep hill we wondered if we were at the wrong location because there's no signs only plenty of beautiful flowers.
The road was literally only big enough for one car.
My family asked "what are we going to do if we meet another car". I said "we'll work it out".
After a short 10 minute drive on this road we came to a small parking area.
And there was the sign leading to the trail which at first appeared to be quite easy.
It has some beautiful forests.
Plus some very interesting trees & plants.
We could have picked bananas right off the tree if they were ripe.
Plenty of interesting flora.
There is a small café that hadn't been open for many months due to the COVID – 19 pandemic. We made a point of checking it out on the way back to see was open.
Finally we arrived at the gate and they had put some pandemic protocol into effect. They provided free bottles of water and all the staff were suited up with masks and shields.
For some reason I felt an urge to be the first in even though I assumed the water was extremely cold due to the fact that it was 17° the evening before.
Surprisingly the water wasn't that cold and your attention soon changed from the coldness to the absolutely awe-inspiring Twin Falls.
I grabbed the Nikon and actually carried it almost right underneath the falls to get a few fantastic shots.
It has some beautiful forests.
Plus some very interesting trees & plants.
We could have picked bananas right off the tree if they were ripe.
Plenty of interesting flora.
We continued for 10 minutes along the easy path.
I kept on thinking why do they mention in the reviews that you can rent a motorcycle for two dollars to bring you back up this is quite easy?
I soon found out why.

Then we began the treacherous and I do mean treacherous walk down to the Twin Falls.
Unfortunately this part is not to be endured by anyone who is physically challenged.
My family asked me often if I was alright.
Fortunately my 10 hours of tennis each week has kept me in shape for such an event.
When we arrived another 15 to 20 minutes later it was well worth the endurance request required.
For some reason I felt an urge to be the first in even though I assumed the water was extremely cold due to the fact that it was 17° the evening before.
Surprisingly the water wasn't that cold and your attention soon changed from the coldness to the absolutely awe-inspiring Twin Falls.

It wasn't long before my 12-year-old had his shirt off and was in the falls with dad.
There are plenty of minor streams running to the same location.
It wasn't long before Darius was in Young boy heaven.
Our older teenager was more reluctant which is unusual.
Probably didn't like getting taken out of his nice warm bed early in the morning.
After dad's urging he finally joined.
Was not long before I had a monkey on my back.
Mom also joined in.
My beautiful wife Azizah with the background of the beautiful waterfalls what more could a man ask for.
Finally a shot of the three of them.
Waterfalls always bring out the romance in anybody.
Then it was time to start the journey home but not before a few more magical shots.
Azizah was approached by a unique breed of dog that is only bred in these mountains called the Kintamani. It has long hair like a Eskimo dog.
Once again this is a location that I knew was there and always planned on going to in my 23 years of living in Bali but never went.
As soon as we entered the several Kilometer entrance driveway it was obvious why this is considered one of the most beautiful golf courses in the world.
I loved their signage.
And finally there we were sitting in the middle of several mountains close to three lakes in one of the greenest landscapes in the world.

Unfortunately they had a limited menu and but after a few very inexpensive drinks nobody cared.
And then again it was home to our beautiful large Lodge provided by our good friend Ari.
There are plenty of minor streams running to the same location.
It wasn't long before Darius was in Young boy heaven.
Our older teenager was more reluctant which is unusual.
Probably didn't like getting taken out of his nice warm bed early in the morning.
After dad's urging he finally joined.

After I arrived back to the ticket office I understood why they would have motorcycles available at 25,000 rupiah or roughly a $1.50 to take you back up to the parking
Later that evening to finish the perfect day we decided to have a beautiful dinner for our last evening of this two day excursion at the famous Honiahara Golf Course.
Finally I was at the famous Gates taken a shot with my lovely.

On the next morning after a short walk we left early with the goal of visiting a monkey forest in the middle of Bali that most people don't even know about but we learned after visiting it is the absolute one in Bali.
