Today my family and I rose at sunrise and decided to walk on the beach to the Komune Beach Club for breakfast, a healthy 3.5 KM or 2.28 Miles from our beachfront home at Bali Paradise Beach Estates. .

Azizah, Darius and myself in front of our home at Bali Paradise Beach Estates |
One of the reasons I wanted to to do this walk this morning is because we observed that the tides in front of our house are the lowest that we've ever seen. In fact the lowest I've ever seen in 22 Years Living in Bali.

Xander, Azizah and Darius at unusually low tide this morning |
The tide at low tide was out, I guesstimated 50 meters more than normal.
If the tide had dropped quickly I would've worried about a Tsunami coming in but this has been happening every day for a week now.
Perhaps somebody can explain why this is the first time in 22 years I am seeing this.
Could it have something to do with recent movement of trans-continental plates which have triggered earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunamis?
Big question is, is this just a temporary thing? Will it last for long time or forever?
I prefer the latter because it provides a lot more nice sandy beach to play on in front of our house.
After a few minutes we passed the beautiful Saba river which was at the lowest level I've ever seen it at after months of little or no rain.
Azizah easily crossed it in knee high water.
One of the variables that may have added to it's low levels is the fact that it is a major water supply for the Nusa Dua convention area, 30 km away.
This week the International Monetary Fund and 36,000 delegates inadvertently would've been using the water from this river.
After months of little or no rain the Saba River is running at the lowest level I've ever seen it.
People often are concerned about Bali running out of water but I will tell you that if the Govt. only deferred some of this water into water catchments during the rainy season we would never run out of water.
Very simple to do and not expensive either. It would ensure a good water supply for Southern Bali's.
Along the way there was a few surfers, although the surf was extremely low in fact at the lowest level I have ever seen.
Our goal was to walk 3 1/2 km to the Komune Beach club for breakfast.
The tide which was at the lowest level I have ever seen provided some great opportunities for those who want to play on the beach with their children.
Many tidepools that we didn't even know even existed bared themself.
Two pictures of the family along the way
Another unusual thing about today is that there was thousands of children on the beach for most of the 3.5 km . Must be some sort of Balinese ceremonial day for children.
After approximately an hour later we arrived at the Komune club and ordered a variety of fresh breakfast items which we lazily enjoyed while reclined on beach chairs.
Finally we negotiated for a transport to take us by car back to Paradise Estates because now that the sun was hot and we were tired.
All in all another beautiful day on Bali's East Coast which all the family enjoyed.
You too can enjoy this ambience by renting our second beachfront home for as little as $125 per night for a large four-bedroom estate with private 14 m swimming pool and views to die for a mere 50 m from the beach.
