Another food brand, Bali-based Sababay Wine, has agreed to sign a co-branding deal with the Tourism Ministry.
“Sababay Wine is an Indonesian product made using local ingredients and authentic process. The products have made into the national and international market; it’s very fitting for Wonderful Indonesia [tourism brand] to be put on each of their products,” said the ministry's Archipelago Marketing Development deputy Esthy Reko Astuti.

The Wonderful Indonesia brand currently takes the 47th spot in the global scene, way above Amazing Thailand and Malaysia Truly Asia that sit on the 83rd and 97th spots, respectively.
Meanwhile, Sababay Wine's six variations reportedly had won gold, silver and double gold at an international award in 2015 and in 2016. Sababay Moscato d’Bali, for instance, managed to defeat Moscato Rosa Jacobs Crips that is very famous in Australia.
“Sababay Wine is available in several retail stores, hotels, restaurants and cafes in Jakarta and Bali. It recently has managed to enter Medan and Lombok. Up next is Yogyakarta, but we’re still looking for sub-distributors,” said Sababay Industry CEO Evy Gozali.
The name Sababay itself came from an English term for "Teluk Saba" (Saba Bay) that can be found in Gianyar, Bali. It is also home to Sababay Industry that was first established in 2010.

Through their wine, Sababay Industry aims to introduce Balinese wine that is made of alphonse lavalle (local red grapes) and moscato (local green grapes).
The company currently produces 500,000 bottles of wine every month that is being sold between Rp 200,000 (US$15) and Rp 300,000 per bottle. The many variations of Sababay Wine include Pink Blossom, Ludisia, Moscato d’Bali and Reserve Red.
Apart from Sababay Wine, the ministry has also partnered up with other local brands, including Alleira Batik and Gaia, Bon Gout, Polygon Achilles, Garuda Food, Sahid Group, Tiket.com, Sunpride, Sarinah, Sekar Group, Krisna Oleh-Oleh, Secret Garden, Martha Tilaar, Malang Strudle and Batik Trusmi.
