Maybe I'm stupid for not understanding why America and its Commander in Chief Donald Trump are testing Chinese friendship while they are asking China to intervene with a serious problem with Korea.
I may not be a diplomat but I'm a darned good businessman who knows how to keep people that you need close and happy.
Maybe Trump doesn't want China to intervene with Korea to get all the attention off of his investigation by the FBI and onto a war which will get most Americans supporting behind him? And maybe not.
I would appreciate your comments on this.
Maybe I'm too ignorant to understand this kind of diplomacy.

A US Navy warship sailed close to an artificial island built up by China in the South China Sea – sparking a row between US President Donald Trump and Beijing, American officials said.
The guided-missile destroyer came to within 12 miles of one of the man-made islands – the first such challenge to Beijing in the strategic waterway since Trump took office.

The anonymous officials said the USS Dewey travelled close to the Mischief Reef in the Spratly Islands, among a string of islets, reefs and shoals over which China has territorial disputes with its neighbours.
China said its warships had warned the US ship and it lodged “stern representations” with the United States.
China said it remained resolutely opposed to so-called freedom of navigation operations.

Chinese defense ministry spokesman Ren Guoqiang told a monthly briefing two Chinese guided-missile warships had warned the US vessel to leave the waters.
“The U.S. side’s errant ways have caused damage to the improving situation in the South China Sea, and are not conducive to peace and stability,” Ren said.

In March satellite images above the South China Sea sparked fears China is preparing for war over the territorial dispute.
The snaps, showing secret gun towers and missile pads, emerged amid a US warning that China has almost completed the construction of three man-made islands.
The strategic bases will give China the ability to deploy combat aircraft and other military assets with terrifying efficiency across the disputed region, news.com.au reports.
The long-running South China Sea dispute circles around claims from several sovereign states over the waters and its islands, through which an estimated $5trillion of trade passes through.
Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam also claim the waters should be classed as their own.
Earlier this year it was reported that China is "stealing" the oil and gas rich South China Sea region and it is too late for Trump and the US to stop them.
The US wants the territory to remain as international waters, sparking fears a war could break out if China starts acting aggressively.
The Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) analysed recent satellite photos and concluded that runways, aircraft hangers, radar sites and hardened surface-to-air missile shelters have either been finished or are nearing completion.
China has constructed enough concrete hangers for 24 fighter jets and four or five larger planes such as bombers or early warning aircraft.
