TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said the government is ready to conduct a trial opening of Bali for foreign tourists. The trial implementation of the opening of this destination will run according to the development of the conditions for the spread of Covid-19.
"Currently, preparations for the implementation of the trial for the opening of Bali are still being carried out with related parties.
Based on the monitoring results, Bali continues to show progress in its readiness and handling of Covid-19," said Sandiaga in a written response to Tempo, quoted on Sunday, October 3, 2021.
Sandiaga explained, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy together with other relevant ministries, institutions, and local governments are coordinating to set requirements for foreign tourists who will enter Bali. These requirements include the health conditions of foreign tourists to the pandemic situation in their home countries.
The foreign tourists who can enter Bali if this destination has been opened are those who have received a full dose of vaccine. Then, tourists must come from countries with a safe Covid-19 situation and follow the pattern or health protocol set by the government.
Besides Bali, trials of opening domestic destinations for foreign tourists will be conducted in Batam and Bintan. However, he continued, tourism managers at these destinations must ensure their readiness so that tourists feel comfortable and safe while in the location.
"So that tourism will rise and move the economy by opening up job opportunities," he said.
The trial of opening a tourist destination for foreign tourists is a warm-up before Indonesia holds an international agenda.
In 2022, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy ensures that Indonesia will host the G20, Destination Wedding Planner (DWP), Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN) Conference, Global Platform For Disaster Risk Reduction (GDPRR), and CIDESCO World Congress.
