I guess there is two ways you can look at today's news that 50% of Jakarta's residents may have been been exposed to COVID -19.
If I lived there I would be saying to my family assume that one in every two people you meet may have COVID -19 or had it in the past. So be careful.
On the positive side if 50% of the population have had COVID -19 already then they're probably close to what's called herd immunity when 70% are exposed or have been vaccinated.
History tells us that when 70% are at this point the disease will soon disappear.
Another way of looking at it according to recent statistics Jakarta currently has a population of around 11 million .
Based on the official statistics that means 5 1/2 million people have or have had COVID- 19.
The average death rate around the world is 2.5% of those who are infected.
This means that almost 140,000 should have died from Covid - 19 in Jakarta.
The latest statistics is that only 10,000 have died in Jakarta.
Hopefully this percentage of deaths per cases continues which would be a miracle.
Merdeka.com - The DKI Provincial Government Jakarta assesses that half of the population of Jakarta already has Covid-19 antibodies. This assessment is based on research results from the DKI Health Office together with the FKM-UI team, the Eijkman Institute and CDC Indonesia on March 15-31.
In an infographic published on the Twitter account @DKIJakarta, he said, if a person has been exposed to the virus, his body is triggered to produce specific antibodies that can be detected.
Meanwhile, based on research results show that half of Jakarta's population has been infected with Covid-19.
"Most are in the age range of 30 to 49 years, infection in the female segment is 47.9 percent higher, more infected are from the married group 39.8 percent.
The most infected population lives in densely populated areas 48.4 percent, " said the provincial government's upload which was quoted on Monday (19/7).

The research also said that of the estimated 4.7 million people who had been infected, only 8.1 percent were known to have been confirmed, most of those who had been infected were not detected.
For this reason, the challenge of this condition is exacerbated by the emergence of new variants that accelerate transmission. Communal immunity in Jakarta is also considered to be more difficult to achieve because Jakarta is an open city with high mobility of interaction between regions.

The research was carried out in the period 15-31 March using the stratified multistage sampling method, and was carried out in urban villages in 6 districts/cities covering 4,919 samples, with details; age 15-49 years 52 percent, over 50 years 26.4 percent, 1-14 years 21.6 percent.
