The big question on everybody's mind right now in Bali is will the Bali Govts. plan to reopen the Bali International Airport to international travellers go ahead as planned on September 11th, or will the federal government continue to prevent reopening until the end of the year.
As a Hotel Owner & Manager it is very difficult to plan ahead with this type of indecision.
I am one of the few that keep our approximate 70 staff on full-time for the past seven months.
During that time Gardner's. pool men and housekeepers sanded and painted the owners villas so they look better than ever.
If the estimated 4,700,000 people living in Bali right now don't take this pandemic seriously, especially the younger tourists who refuse to wear masks there is little chance that we will go ahead with the September 11th. opening to international tourists.
After having a acquaintance of mine who had preconditions pass from COVID+19 complications earlier this week I realize we all have to take this even more serious than before.
The latest research from reliable sources released this week determined that the main source of coronavirus infections is from infected persons either sneezing or even breathing in public enclosed places.
Then the virus become an aerosol travelling as much as 8 -9 meters and into the air-conditioning system where it is recirculated and infects many more.
Be aware that air conditioning units and ventilation systems may increase the risk of transmission, especially in shopping malls, restaurants, and offices, for example.
When to Wear a Mask
The CDC recommends everyone wears a mask if they are out of their own home, and unable to practice safe social distancing—for example, inside a supermarket, a pharmacy or a doctor's office. This is especially important any time you are inside.
When my family and I go out on occasion I feel quite safe if I stay away from air-conditioned premises.
Our AC's in our PT. Bali Luxury Villas are cleaned frequently by our professional staff to insure that our guests are safe from coronavirus.
COVID -19 Affect Young and Old.
They also determined recently that this disease is not just affecting the elderly and those with pre-conditions anymore.
Many young people are becoming infected and don't know it so they don't get tested.
When they are finally tested they are finding that they have damage to lungs and other organs that may be permanent.
Even children are being found to have the virus and have damage from it.
So don't think because you're young and healthy that you can't be affected!
An acquaintance that just passed from this was a very healthy person when I saw him last year. He played tennis, skied recently etc.
Nobody is immune anymore.
It appears nobody is immune anymore!
So the bottom line is if you are going out wear a mask to protect others from you since you may have an infection and not even know it.
Think about how bad you will feel if in the future you discover that you have COVID-19 and no symptoms. But since you did not wear a mask you infected dozens of others.
What if because of your nonchalant attitude in not wearing a mask you cause the death of a child, a friend, a co-worker.
Then you passed it on to your child, your spouse, your mother or your father.
As you watch their final moments you realize that you could've prevented that.
Will you still think you were cool?
If you want to shop or dine out try to avoid any areas that are enclosed with air conditioning.
We have been dining only at restaurants that are open air and Azizah and I make sure that my family is upwind from any potential infected people.

When Bali tightens up and starts following proper protocols that have been established in places such as Wuhan, China we may have International tourists return soon and be able to frolic the way they did in Wuhan this week.
It may be too early to get as close as they did but the authorities must feel safe .
Don't Kill the Messenger.
I just spent the last three hours of my valuable time dictating and publishing this blog for several reasons.
First and foremost if I can motivate some people to be more careful and prevent a death similar to associate/friend that occurred this week and just save one life, it was well worth the effort.
Second and almost as important is the fact that if we don't get our act together and stop believing that we are immune from this virus we are going to have the same problems that they are having in places such as the U.S.A where the disease is out of control. Although they have some of the best Doctors in the world and only 4 % of the worlds population they have 15% to 20 % of the worlds deaths.
If we do not follow the " New Normal Protocol" we won't be worrying about September 11th. deadlines for international tourist coming back. We will be wondering if we'll have any tourists come back in 2021.
Few tourist will travel to a place that has high rate of infections. I guarantee it.
So I am concerned about our 70 + staff that I've kept on the past seven months at my and the villa owners expense.
I'm concerned about the 4.7 million people that live in Bali, of who probably 90% directly or indirectly rely on tourists.
If we don't all think socially responsibly right this moment there is going to be a lot of serious pain occur in Bali.
I know that all the naysayers and conspiracy theory brain-dead people will come out of the woodwork on this statement.
I don't care. Everybody has their opinion and I respect yours although I may not agree.
All I ask is you don't use profanity to express your opinions. Show some class.

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Deputy Governor of Bali Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati stated that the opening of the Island of the Gods for foreign tourists is still tentative in determining the date.
For this reason, it is not certain that the island of the Gods will be opened to foreign tourists on September 11, even though it is a good day in the Balinese Hindu calendar.
Cok Ace, a call from the Deputy Governor of Bali, said that the opening of Bali tourism is very important for the economy of the Island of the Gods.
"The Covid-19 pandemic is the most devastating disaster for Bali tourism. It is far worse than the Bali bombing, both the first and second, and worse than all the eruptions of Mount Agung combined," Cok Ace said as quoted by CNN International, Wednesday (19/8/2020).
The former chairman of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Bali said that the hotel occupancy rate in Bali fell 99% in July 2020, compared to a year before. Bali loses revenue of around IDR 9.7 trillion per month due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Tens of thousands of local workers have been officially terminated and generally without severance pay. Thousands of people have lost their formal jobs, and many informal workers in Bali tourism are desperate because they have no income.
Meanwhile, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali Airport itself only serves a total of 25,305 domestic passengers. Flight traffic reached 334 aircraft movements.
