How to be successful in 2017 no matter how bad your life is right now.

Are you successful?

First lets define success.

Success is different things to different people.

My definition of success is being able to do what I want to do, when I want to do it, as many times as I want to do it, without worrying about the costs.

While traveling in Europe last year I met another successful entrepreneur and we were talking about our mentors.

We both came up with the same name, Napoleon Hill.

If I had not read his book "Grow Rich with Peace of Mind" decades before I would not be where I am today.

Fourteen years ago I lost my $150,000 yacht (without insurance) and almost lost my life while on a yacht charter from Indonesia to Australia when I got caught and sailed 42 hours through a class four cyclone.








At the time I was a middle aged foreigner ( expat ) living in Indonesia with no job and no prospects for one.

I was in a foreign country and did not have enough money to fly back to my home country, Canada.


As I watched my beautiful yacht being smashed against the rocks on a northern Australian shore I broke down in tears. 

Under these circumstances I could have fallen into deep depression.

Then I remembered one of Napoleon Hill's famous saying's that had saved me in prior dire situations in the past "Every adversity has within it the seed of an equal or greater benefit"

So I asked myself at that point, where is the seed of an equal or greater benefit in losing everything?

It dawned on me for several years prior, while taking out charters from Bali and around Indonesia, many times, wealthy individuals would ask me, after discovering I had been in real estate in Hawaii, what do you think about Bali real estate".

I replied at the time "Bali is the next Hawaii", but only after the current government ends. 

It just so happens that two years before riots and protests ended over 30 years of less than democratic rule and democracy was blooming.

So the the seed of the equal or greater benefit while my yacht was been smashed apart was that I no longer had my comfort zone of my yacht charter and went back to Bali, started a real estate company on the Internet out of a humble rented home with no capital whatsoever.

Low and behold years later I became a very success Bali Developer an am pretty well set for life.

As we enter a new year I suggest you listen to Napoleon Hill Live on Utube on what may have been one of the first infomercials in history .
