Twenty year Bali resident, Lawrence Bellefontaine, President of 155 employee, Tripadvisor Hall of Fame award winning PT. B.A.L.I. was once called “The Nostradamus of Bali” by another major newsletter critic.
He states “unlike Nostradamus, I base my predictions on solid fundamental and technical analysis utilizing my 40 years of professional investment experience.
Here are just a few of his major documented predictions.
1. In 2002 after living in Bali for five years he began writing a column for the Bali Sun Newspaper. His famous quote at the time was “Bali real estate is the same as Hawaii 30 years ago when investors first started to buy”.
2. At that time he recommended an American couple purchase a beautiful beachfront property for Rp 10,000,000 ($1,000) per 100 m2. That same property is now selling for 4,000% to 5,000% more in just 13 years.
3. An Australian Bali contractor once called him “The pioneer of Bali luxury villas” since he trademarked the name "Bali luxury villas". In 2,000 he recommended that foreigners buy luxury 400 to 500 m2 villas with private 9 mtr. pools on a 50 year lease starting at $176,000.
4. In a Jakarta Post Newspaper interview in 2005 He cited the fact that after the Horrific 2002 Bali bombing many people telephoned him expecting prices to drop He said “ Bali real estate will not fall because the Balinese could afford to hold on, they’re not cash-strapped”
Sure enough prices did not fall, we t sideways and a year and a half later continued to rise exponentially. In the same article, he said he stated that “prices would continue to grow for another 3 to 10 years before there would be any corrections”. Exactly 10 years after that prediction in March of this year Bali had the first correction in prices in 40 years, caused primarily by concerns over nominee ownership of properties by foreigners.
5. In 2002 he recommended buying beachfront properties on a new highway that was going up the east coast of Bali ( By Pass Baru) for as little as $4,000 per 100 m². Just this year the same property sold for $100,000 per hundred square meters. A phenomenal increase.
7. In 2009 February 2009 he predicted after the worst stock crash since the Great Depression that “the stock market looks like it has bottomed out and ready to start a bull market”. Since that time. we’ve had the one of the longest bull markets in history.
8. Three years later he recommend buying palladium at $180 an ounce. A few years after that it sold for $850 an ounce.
9. He recommended buying gold at $450 an ounce predicting that inflation-adjusted if it only went back to the price that he use to sell it for in 1980 when he was a precious metals dealer, it should go to $1,500 - $2,000 an ounce. Prices rose dramatically thereafter and stopped at $1,950 an ounce. Very close to his upper limit prediction.
10. Three years ago he stated Singapore real estate prices were ridiculous and would fall. They have fallen for 36 months exponentially.
11. Most Bali and Jakarta Seminar attendees plus readers of his Bali News and Views newsletter and blogs, with over 1,400,000 pageviews worldwide that took his advice over the past 10 years have earned exceptional profits.
13. His first © Bali Luxury Villa which sold for 176,000 is now worth close to $400,000.
14. A Canadian Jakarta Seminar Attendee has potentially earned over 400% in five years or roughly 70% per year on a Bali Villa.
15. Another attendee who purchased a villa for $168,000 has seen it rise up to $300,000 or 147 % in 4 years.
16. In March 2014 prices he predicted Bali real estate had topped off and would fall. Many prices are down 20% to 50%, which he now says is probably the best buying opportunity for Bali real estate in 40 years.
