Malaysia – Positive Travel Sentiment- RateTiger witnesses strong recovery signals for Malaysian hotel sector

Editor's Comments:

It's hard to find any good news in the news these days The article below illustrates that tourists around the world are biting at the bit to travel once again.

As soon as countries begin to open new borders there will be a flood of bookings especially for Bali According to trip advisor is the most sought after destination Asia and the fourth most sought after destination in the world.

Hopefully this will happen soon.

RateTiger witnesses strong recovery signals for Malaysian hotel sector

Advance bookings reach almost 95% in August for Malaysian hotels, even though international travel is off limits, as per latest report from travel technology leader eRevMax.
The company has been tracking reservation trends for its connected properties since the beginning of the pandemic and is now witnessing reservation growth in various geographies worldwide.

Holding January 2020 as constant and computing the % change across the following months, this report reflects the reservation trends, based on data processed by eRevMax for its client hotels in Malaysia.

Malaysia – Positive Travel Sentiment

Malaysia closed its borders to international tourism in March, like the rest of the world. The South East Asian country, which was one of first to get hit by the coronavirus, started opening travel and tourism activities since June. It relaxed its lockdown measures and allowed interstate travel to resume and opening of various services including amusement and water parks, spa, and reflexology centres, among others. In July, Malaysia reopened its borders partially to medical tourists, and earlier this month, the country announced its travel bubble with Singapore.
The reopening announcement met with a surge in bookings. In July, the number of bookings processed by eRevMax, improved to 72% of January, and in August, it has reached almost 95% so far, showing extremely positive travel sentiment in Malaysia.

"The resilience of the hospitality sector has never failed to amaze me. It is very reassuring to see this revival in demand amidst a pandemic situation. If we look at Malaysia, January is the peak tourist season while July-August is relatively low on tourism activity. Seeing reservations close to high season level is a testimony to people embracing travel again as witnessed from the sharp growth in advance booking numbers,” commented Udai Singh Solanki, Co-CEO & CTO, eRevMax.

eRevMax continues to provide seamless connectivity and business intelligence solutions to thousands of hotels worldwide. It is constantly monitoring booking data across geographies. The company plans to publish country reports for key markets to showcase relevant booking trends and traveller expectations for hotels to use and rebuild their distribution strategies.

New Yogyakarta Airport served 4,193 flights during March-Aug period

Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - The newly inaugurated Yogyakarta International Airport served 3,355,660 passengers and 4,193 flights during the March 29-August 24 period, President Director of PT Angkasa Pura I Faik Fahmi stated.

The airport served as many as 2,185 outgoing flights, with a total of 325,577 passengers, and 20,336 incoming flights and 3,030,083 passengers since the airport became operational on March 29, Fahmi stated here on Friday.

"Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of passengers at the Yogyakarta International Airport is quite high, reaching 94,130 in August. The highest number of arriving passengers at the Yogyakarta International Airport was in April 2020, notably 780,751," Fahmi noted.

Aircraft serving domestic flights at the airport comprised Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, Lion Air, Batik Air, Air Asia Indonesia, and Sriwijaya Air, while international flights to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur were served by SilkAir and AirAsia.

The Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) can accommodate large-bodied aircraft of Boeing 777 and Airbus, thereby circumventing the need to transit at the Sukarno-Hatta Airport or Denpasar, Bali.

The presence of YIA has significantly boosted economic growth in Kulon Progo, from 5.2 percent in 2018 to 10.48 percent in June 2019, after the airport opened for the first time on May 6, 2019.

This is since the YIA is located at a very strategic position, in the middle of Java Island.

It is also expected to help boost tourist arrivals, as the airport is located exactly at the center of Java Island.

State-owed airport operator Angkasa Pura I has planned to build a cargo terminal at the airport.

"Yogyakarta International Airport offers world-class airport services by prioritizing the aspects of comfort, security, and safety for all airport service users and a solution to the problem of capacity shortage at the Adisutjipto Airport," he remarked.

Furthermore, the Yogyakarta International Airport is earthquake- and tsunami-resistant and is equipped with an integrated early warning system for potential earthquakes and tsunamis, as well as extreme weather conditions. This integrated earthquake and tsunami early detection system makes YIA the first airport to have earthquake and tsunami mitigation devices.

The airport features modern-style architecture blended effortlessly with local traditional arts and culture since several Yogyakarta artists were involved in boosting the aesthetic appeal of the building.

"We have also prepared a tenant area for MSMEs over an area spanning 1,500 square meters at the terminal to accommodate 300 MSMEs and an area of 880 square meters at the Liaison Building that can accommodate 170 MSMEs. This is our commitment to continue to promote MSME products, so they are able to compete with international products, especially at YIA," he added. Worldwide Coronavirus cases hits horrific 25 million worldwide.

In the coming hours the worldwide coronavirus cases will hit a very scary number of 25 million.
Assuming that there are at least twice as many that are not reported I feel comfortable in assuming there are probably 50 cases worldwide already.

Coronavirus deaths approach 1 million.
The amount of deaths is fast approaching 1 million worldwide and again that may be underrated. Currently there are 828,000 according to the World Health Organization.

Although the United States only represents 4% of the population of the world it has 25% of the cases.

Currently the United States has 18,104 cases and 554 deaths per million population.

Bali only has 12 deaths per million population.

While Donald Trump boasts at the Republican convention right this moment about his great economy and how well he has done with coronavirus let us remind you that just a few months ago he said there was only a few and it would go away quickly.

Bali just last night initiated stronger regulations making it mandatory for anyone to wear a mask public which I think is a great move.

Now all they must do to stop all those people especially young people on the West Coast who are going to live nightclubs with no concern about spreading the disease.
I had a call with my relative halfway around the world in Canada yesterday to wish him a happy birthday.

He commented to me what many people have recently, " I do not know anybody that has coronavirus and none of my friends know anybody".

I said to him I know someone who I have known for 20 Years in Bali who was a professional architect, a tennis player like me and he just passed from coronavirus complications.

Once you have it come close to you understand that this is not something to lightly deal with.

I beg everyone in Bali to be as diligent. Wear a mask in public not for you but for others so that you may not infect them in case you have it and don't even know it.

Stay educated, stay safe, God bless..

Bali enforces Rp100,000 fine for not wearing face masks outdoors

Bali Governor Wayan Koster (second left). (Antaranews Bali/Ni Luh Rhisma/2020)
Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) - The Bali governor issued Regulation No. 46 of 2020 that enforces a fine of Rp100 thousand on those not wearing a face mask in public.

"This regulation is to follow up on Presidential Instruction (Inpres No. 6 of 2020) that aims to make people more orderly and disciplined in implementing health protocols as an effort to prevent the transmission of COVID-19," Bali Governor Wayan Koster stated while announcing the new regulation (Pergub Bali No. 46/2020) on Discipline and Law Enforcement of Health Protocols under the efforts to prevent and control COVID-19 in the new normal era here on Wednesday.

The regulation mandates people to wear a mask, always maintain physical distance, and wash hands with soap and under running water.

"mandates people to wear a mask, always maintain physical distance, and wash hands with soap and under running water"

It stipulates that individuals and business actors, managers, organizers, or persons in charge of public places and facilities are mandated to implement health protocols and ensure requisite compliance.

In the meantime, business actors, managers, organizers, or people in charge of public places and facilities will be fined Rp1,000,000 for not providing means to prevent the transmission of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"In addition to the fine, individuals, business actors, managers, organizers, or persons in charge of public places and facilities can be subject to other sanctions in accordance with 'Awig-awig' or 'Pararem' Traditional Village' or the provisions of Legislation," Koster stated.

The governor has instructed to disseminate information on the new regulation, and after two weeks, the local authorities will deploy law enforcement officers, including from the police and military, to help enforce implementation of the rule.

The governor's regulation also calls for maintaining discipline and enforcing health protocol laws in 15 activity sectors: public services, transportation, customs and religion, arts and culture, agriculture, fisheries, forestry, trade, bank and non-bank financial institutions, and education institutions, among other things. Bali Tourism Starting to Recover, There are 35 Flights per Day to Bali

Kompas.com - 24/08/2020, 20:15 WIB SHARE: Comment See Photos Officers drape flowers to welcome passengers on domestic routes arriving at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Badung, Bali, Friday (31/7/2020).

The Provincial Government of Bali began to open the tourism sector for domestic tourists on Friday (31/7) with a number of requirements that prioritize health and quality aspects to provide protection, comfort and safety for tourists visiting during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Bali Governor Wayan Koster revealed that tourism in the area has begun to recover since it was opened for domestic tourists starting July 31, 2020. Quoted from Antara ,

Koster said that the recovery was shown by the increasing number of flights to the Island of the Gods every day through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport as one of the entrances for Bali.

Tourism to Tanah Lot is in demand, there have been 21,229 visits by domestic tourists since it was opened Koster said, before July 31, 2020,

Garuda aircraft Indonesia with the goal of Bali, for example, only making flights twice a day.

The number of passengers transported is only around 1,000 people per day. "After opening on July 31, Garuda flights Indonesia to Bali up to five times a day, "said Koster, Sunday (23/8/2020). "

Even if it is calculated, all airlines flying to Bali have reached 35 flights per day," he continued.

The number of passengers also increased by more than 2,000 people per day. In fact, Koster noted that in the last four days, 5,000 passengers per day arrived in Bali via Ngurah Rai Airport.

This number does not include domestic tourists entering Bali via land routes, which have also increased. "

We are starting to see the stretch in a number of tourist objects. In Kuta it has increased a little, then Tanah Lot, Ubud, Sanur and Kintamani have also started to increase," said Koster.
See Photos Bali illustration - Tanah Lot Temple. (SHUTTERSTOCK)

Furthermore, regarding the recovery of the condition of tourism in Bali as before, according to him, it really depends on the management of handling the Covid-19 pandemic.

Therefore, the Governor of Bali asked the public to be consciously disciplined and committed to implementing health protocols and government policies. "The goal is for tourists to feel comfortable during their visit and stay in Bali, which is in the green zone," said Koster.

"Because of that I really hope we all commit to carry out this ( new normal ) in an orderly manner," he said. Also read: Bali Tourism, Alas Kedaton Free Entrance Tickets for Domestic Tourists.

Koster also asked all parties not to be influenced by calls from anyone not to comply with health protocols. Because, if the opening of the stage for domestic tourists does not go well, then Bali tourism will again experience a setback. If it is carried out well and smoothly, he is optimistic that the economic contraction in the third quarter can be reduced.

"Astungkara in the fourth quarter is getting better. If possible, it will be close to zero, so that by 2021, we have reached a positive growth rate. This is of course our common hope," he said.

Low-cost carrier AirAsia is to reopen four of its routes from Bali starting Sept. 1, allowing passengers to travel from the famous island destination to Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara, Lombok in West Nusa Tenggara, as well as Yogyakarta and Surakarta in Central Java.

According to a statement, the move is part of the airline's effort to gradually reopen its popular routes as it enters its third month since resuming operations amid the pandemic.

“We continue to work hard to gradually normalize the operations of our customers' favorite routes, starting with our Bali hub," AirAsia Indonesia president director Veranita Yosephine Sinaga said in the statement.

Trump Sows Doubt in U.S. Election With Polls Showing Biden Leading

Editor's comments:;

Here we go. Something that I predicted four months ago may become reality.

With Trump facing multiple lawsuits and possible even imprisonment if he loses  the office of the Pres. at his age he will do everything in his power to prevent that from happening.

He will take legal and may take illegal actions including perhaps inviting hacking from Russians and other entities who want to keep him in power.

He may go even so far as to instigate his followers who are a mostly ignorant, redneck voters with multiple automatic weapons in their possession to cause civil disobedience.

I predict right now this election is not going to be pretty. Before it's over there they may come close to a Civil War.

I hope I'm wrong.

What do you expect from a person who even his own niece, brother and sister say is not honest.

This man is the most dangerous man to ever hold the presidency of the United States in history.

Although Bidden may not be the best choice anybody is a better choice than Trump.

I encourage you Americans to come out and vote in mass.

Never listen to the polls and never assume that Bidden will win.

If Trump wins again because you were too lazy to get out and vote you and other lazy voters may cause the ruin of America under another four years of Donald Trump.

President again alleges vote-by-mail will result in fraud

DeJoy tells senators Postal Service is prepared for election

President Donald Trump sought to sow more public doubt in the November election on Friday, repeating unsubstantiated claims that mail-in ballots would lead to voter fraud, as he lags behind Democratic challenger Joe Biden in polls.

Trump, in a speech Friday, said mail-in voting “will be a tremendous embarrassment for our country, it will go on forever and you will never know who won. This is a very serious problem and something has to be done about it.”

Five states already hold elections almost entirely by mail, including Republican-dominated Utah, without serious episodes of fraud. For the 2020 election, many more states are moving rapidly to expand mail-in voting or no-excuse absentee voting so that voters don’t have to risk coronavirus infection by going to polling stations in person.

Biden is ahead by about 7.4 percentage points in the polling average compiled by RealClearPolitics. That lead hasn’t wavered much in months. An average calculated by FiveThirtyEight has Biden leading by 8.6 percentage points.

Trump described the nation as unready for the volume of mail-in ballots expected by November, but Postmaster General Louis DeJoy told senators in a hearing earlier Friday that the Postal Service is prepared.

“The American people can feel comfortable that the Postal Service will deliver on this election,” DeJoy told the Senate Homeland Security Committee. But Trump claimed without citing examples that states rushing to expand mail-in voting aren’t adopting sufficient safeguards against fraud.

During the hearing, Republican Senator Rick Scott, typically a Trump ally, added doubt to the president’s claim. “In Florida, we’ve had vote-by-mail for a long time and it’s worked really well,” Scott said.

Trump’s remarks, to a secretive conservative group called the Council on National Policy, came the day after former Vice President Joe Biden called Trump a failed president in a prime-time speech accepting the Democratic nomination.

During the Democratic National Convention, many speakers urged viewers to vote early or to make a plan to vote on Election Day, with some -- including the party’s vice president nominee, California Senator Kamala Harris, warning Republicans were trying to suppress turnout.
MORE POLITICAL COVERAGE

“People are getting ballots who had no intention of voting, that maybe shouldn’t be voting,” Trump said, alleging without substantiation that some Americans may be able to cast multiple ballots. He predicted that the U.S. coronavirus outbreak will sufficiently wane by November to allow for safe, in-person voting.

“It’s largely, really, in good shape,” he said. “We’ve done a great job, we have not been recognized for what we’ve done. In 2.5 months from now we’ll be in good shape. Potentially really good shape.”

The U.S. has suffered more than 5.7 million cases of Covid-19 and reported more than 45,000 new cases on Thursday.

“They all think I’m trying to steal the election,” Trump said. “Just the opposite. I want fair results.”

Breaking News - Sadly It's Official Bali Will Not Open to International Tourists on Sept 11th. as Previously Planned.

Editor's Note:
Overnight my wife, who is an official Govt. Notaris received notice from the Notaris Group she belongs to with a statement from the Bali Gov. Office that Bali Will Not Open to International Tourists on Sept 11th. as Previously Planned.

This is sad news for Bali, our hotel staff, my family, friends, clients, associates and over 90 % of Bali's citizens who rely on International tourists.

The Govt. hopes to make up a lot of the loss of revenue by increasing domestic tourism but that will be a difficult task.
Bali Netizen August 22, 2020

Bali Governor Wayan Koster.

Bali Governor Wayan Koster said the opening of bali tourism activities first and second stage (for indonesian/ domestic tourists) has so far been relatively well and successful.

From the evaluation results show that the activity of the first stage and the second stage did not have an impact on covid-19 cases, there was no increase in new cases of COVID-19, did not bring up a new cluster of COVID-19 cases," said Gubenur Koster in his press statement, Saturday (8/22/2020).

Governor Koster then explained the emergence of new cases of COVID-19 can be controlled, the cure rate is higher, and the death rate can be controlled.

Since opening on July 31, 2020, the number of indonesian/wisnu (domestic) tourists visiting Bali through the doors of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport has increased by more than 100%.

As of August 14, 2020, the number of indonesian tourists going through the doors of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport reaches about 2,300-2,500 people per day.

With regard to the plan of the third stage, the commending of tourism activities for foreign tourists (wisman), Governor Koster said it is necessary to consider various things carefully.

First, there is still a Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights no. 11 of 2020 on the Temporary Prohibition of Foreigners entering the Territory of the Republic of Indonesia.

Second, the Government of Indonesia is still enforcing a policy that prohibits its citizens from traveling abroad, at least until the end of 2020.

In line with that, the Government of Indonesia has not been able to open the entrance for foreign tourists to Indonesia until the end of 2020, because Indonesia still belongs to the category of red zone.

"The situation in Indonesia has not been conducive to allowing foreign tourists to visit Indonesia, including visiting Bali," said the Governor who is also chairman of DPD PDI Perjuangan Bali Province.

Is it safe to take my family to a restaurant or shopping mall in Bali.

Editors Comment:

Recent research indicates that not only are the elderly and the sick being infected with Coronavirus but also the young and children are also been found to have the virus.

In those under 50 the virus may not show up in symptoms for some time if at all.
But they still they can spread the virus to older people and those who have preconditions.

Recent research
also concluded that anyone who sadly becomes infected, whether young or old can have permanent damage to their vital organs, even if they are cured.

It is now more important than ever to be careful!

So now is not the time to let down our guard especially if we have a family as I do.

With young boys aged 12 to 16 it is very difficult to explain to them that they must continue to do home schooling. which is definitely not as beneficial educational wise or health wise as the real thing.

When I further explains them that they can not have a bunch of friends over and that indoor restaurants, shops  and  shopping malls are dangerous it is an even a more difficult task to explain.

Lately I've had to deal with the problem of explaining to them that they can go to a shopping mall that has open areas but should not go into closed areas.

More importantly to them is they must not play video games in games rooms at the malls due the fact that many of the children don't have masks on at all.

I just found the following information from a very recent reliable source from my home country, Canada who has many shopping malls.

This is what they believe is the best protocol for visiting a shopping mall.

I hope it helps. You may want to forward it to your children, your family & friends.

Stay safe, Think positive, Act positive and Be positive

All staffs are very friendly and helpful. We love Sanur. not too much people but convenient and beautiful area. Our most fun is surfing. surf almost every day. We can walk to beach soon . I cook breakfast every morning. We also enjoy near local Bali food and many kinds of restaurants for lunch and dinner. We can require Bali massage at villa. very comfortable.I really recommend the stay . Thank you. Our next visit is March. of course must be fun.
