Bali Coronavirus Statistics.

Yesterday April 8th. marked 37 days or a little over one month since the first confirmed case of coronavirus was reported in Bali.

According to the World Health Organization, we had 49 confirmed cases in Indonesia yesterday. A 14% increase over the day before. 

This means that the amount of new cases is accelerating slowly as more are tested.

It's important to understand that Bali has been one of the least infected places in the world with only an average of 1.32 new cases per day since the first day 37 days ago.

It's also important to note that there are only 49 people confirmed cases out of a population of an estimated population of 4,362,000. 

Therefore less than 12 people out of every 1,000,000 people in Bali have been diagnosed with the disease. 

Or even less threatening is the fact that only approximately one person of every one hundred thousand people in Bali has been diagnosed as positive for coronavirus.

Do Not Let Your Guard Down:

This does not mean that you should let your guard down. 

• Stay at home as much a possible.
• Always practice social distancing. At least two meters.
• Wear a surgical mask or worst case scenario a  bandanna or homemade mask. Primarily to prevent you from distributing this disease to others in case you have it with mild or no symptoms.
• Do not bring anything into your home that could be contaminated including plastic packaging, cardboard etc.
• Remove your clothing before you enter your home. Wrap a towel around yourself.
• Wash her hands Rigorously for 20 seconds with soap and water immediately before you touch anything in your home including door handles.
•  Take a shower or bath immediately to prevent any possibility of bringing the virus in your home.
• Assume that food on dishes served from restaurants and especially from streetside sellers is infected. Carry a bottle 70% plus alcohol and spray and clean everything including forks and knives, plates and glasses. 
• Do not dine at any restaurant where the waitresses are not covering their mouths with a mask.
• Everyone must follow the rules in Bali and do not visit any attractions or beaches that are closed.

No doubt many more have the disease but have not been tested yet and will be added to these statistics in the coming days and weeks.

Only Two Deaths:

Fortunately, only 2 individuals have lost their lives to the disease. They are tourists from England and Italy. They were thought to have brought the disease with them when they came into Bali from their home country or from catching it during transit to Bali.

No doubt many more have the disease but have not been tested yet will be added to the statistic.

Indonesia Coronavirus Statistics.

According to the World Health Organization, we had 2,956 confirmed cases in Indonesia which is an 18.5% increase over the day before. 

Considering that these cases took place in Indonesia with the fourth largest population in the world with a population of 274,000,000. that is still only 10 Cases per One Million People in Indonesia.

 Unfortunately over 240 have lost their lives to the disease. That is still only .88 Deaths per One Million People in Indonesia. 

That is a small fraction of Indonesians that die on the road every day, especially from motorbike accidents.

Positive News for Indonesia:

 I made a prediction several weeks ago that Indonesia and hopefully Bali may see an end of new cases as early as the end of this month or the first two weeks of May. This was based on Chinas experience and other factors unique to Bali such as the fact that Coronavirus cannot live on surfaces above 29C.

Like most cases of flu, Coronavirus Experts say that it does not survive at Temperatures above 29°C. 

Based on that scientific fact and assuming that a lot of the transactions of this virus in China were caused by infected people touching things that were touched by other people we may have a major benefit over colder climates North and South of us the Covid-19 cases in the world are in the latitudes above 30°.

Since we don't have that problem in most of Indonesia with the temperatures average around 29° to 33° even as we go into our cooler months there is a strong possibility that we may be able to recover from this even faster than China did.

Especially since we have a lot of research on hand and scientific improvements such as test kits that allow for test results in as little as 15 minutes now being distributed throughout America. I rest my case

Here in Bali, Indonesia, at  8° latitude we are preparing to hunker down for a one to two months increase in cases, which is inevitable. 

Seasonal Disease:

Many doctors including CNN's Chief Medical Correspondent, Dr. Sanjay Gupta have confirmed that that coronavirus is seasonal and does not like high temperatures above 27 Degree Centigrade.
Perhaps this is why Bali, which is in close proximity to China and had many Chinese tourists during the Chinese new year back in February has no confirmed cases as of this point.
After doing the above odds I have just been confirmed to myself that I will not be canceling our family trip around the world in June.

World Coronavirus Statistics.

Yesterday April 8th. marked 84 days or approximately 2 3/4 mths since the first confirmed 45 cases of coronavirus were reported in China on Jan. 16th. We have since learned that the virus actually broke out in December but either China didn't realize how dangerous it was or was not reporting the problem for other reasons.

News cases exceed 1.5 Million.

According to the World Health Organization, worldwide cases exceeded 1.5 Million for the first time at 1,501,685 confirmed cases as of yesterday which is a 12% increase. 

Sadly over 87,838 have succumbed to the disease which is 5.85% of those diagnosed worldwide.
