Sandiaga Uno doesn’t rule out accepting cabinet job if offered

Opposition to wait for official count in disputed election

One of Joko Widodo’s top political opponents said he’s open to working with the Indonesia president following a disputed election this month, raising hopes for a peaceful outcome.


Sandiaga Uno, the vice presidential pick of challenger Prabowo Subianto, said in an interview he would put the national interest first no matter what the outcome of the April 17 election.

Prabowo has refused to accept unofficial quick counts that show Widodo, known as Jokowi, has won a second term in office. Election authorities have until May 22 to release offocial results.


“The interest of the country is first and foremost,” Uno said when asked if he would consider a cabinet post if the count, as expected, confirms Jokowi wins again and makes an offer. “I want to contribute to the country.”



“It’s about how we can deliver the best impact,” he said in the interview, his first with international media since the vote. “It doesn’t have to really be in the government. It could be outside the government, but again I don’t want to speculate. We’ll have these conversations after May 22.”

Uno, 49, is nearly two decades younger than Prabowo and has expressed a desire to remain in politics after amassing millions of dollars as a private equity investor. He denied any rift with Prabowo, who has made repeated allegations of electoral fraud that have spurred protests from his supporters.



Uno’s apparent willingness to work with Jokowi could dampen fears of a drawn-out legal fight over the election results that could hinder policy making as a second term begins. Jokowi is facing the challenge of spurring economic growth, keeping a lid on the costs of staples and creating jobs, especially for the country’s millennials and growing middle class.
Fears of Unrest

With the official result possibly still possibly weeks away, allegations from the Prabowo camp of mass fraud are continuing to overshadow the election. Claims of a conspiracy between the government and election authorities have prompted concerns about potential unrest, with the ructions also seen as risking Indonesia’s ability to lure much-needed foreign investment.

Unofficial quick counts from a dozen pollsters on the day of the vote gave the election to Jokowi, with the ongoing tally from Indonesia’s election commission mirroring that and showing him with a gap of about 10 percentage points.

“Let’s go to the real count and let’s make sure the process is fair, transparent and accountable,” Uno said.

Jokowi’s Security Affairs Minister Wiranto, who like many Indonesians uses only one name, has rejected the allegations of voter fraud as "unfounded". The former commander of the Indonesian military urged calm and asked the public to resist being "incited to take action".
No Split

The president, meanwhile, is getting on the the business of government, and jockeying has already begun for positions in his next cabinet. On Thursday, chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Zulkifli Hasan held talks with Jokowi in a meeting that’s raised speculation of the party regaining a position in the cabinet. It had been a member of the Jokowi’s first-term coalition and held a cabinet post until August when it joined forces with Prabowo ahead of the election campaign.

Several PAN officials echoed Uno in dismissing suggestions of a split between Prabowo’s Gerindra party and the National Mandate Party.

“PAN is still firmly in coalition with Gerindra,” said Dradjad Wibowo, a senior member of PAN. "Our focus is still on vote counting. We found a large number of cases of vote rigging and abuse of power by many state apparatus.”
Long Game

A successful investor who drained a sizeable chunk of his private equity fortune -- he said in a previous interview he’d spent close to $100 million -- during the election campaign, Uno is now weighing his next move. “We have been able to energize the base,” he said, and it “shows that people are really asking for change.”



He insisted he is staying in politics. Still, while regarded as potential future leader, he also risks seeing his presidential ambitions fade if he’s left without a political platform.

Uno made his fortune with PT Saratoga Investama Sedaya Tbk, an investment holding company he co-founded almost 20 years ago in the wake of the Asian financial crisis. The graduate of George Washington University said ahead of the vote he’d lost close to a third of his net worth, which until recently had been in the vicinity of $360 million.

“I’m not going back to business, he said. "This is it."

Snorkeling involves swimming in the ocean, using a mask and breathing tube (or snorkel) so you can see and breathe underwater. Read on to find out more about this activity and the best spots for first-timers.

Why snorkeling?

Snorkeling is a great way to enjoy the marine life that's on your doorstep in this archipelago, which has some of the richest marine environments on the planet. You can swim with ocean giants like whale sharks or float above coral reefs to gaze at the multicolored fish below.

If you head out to sea, you can even have the rare experience of snorkeling with great white sharks, sea lions, orcas and other large marine animals.

What skills do you need?

Go swimming

Before you go snorkeling, practice swimming to make sure you’re comfortable in the water. You can take some lessons at your local pool or just focus on the freestyle technique: kicking your legs is exactly what you’ll do as a snorkeler.

Being a strong swimmer will also mean you won’t need a snorkel vest, giving you that much more freedom and ease of movement.

Practice finning

Swimming with fins is very different to swimming without them, so take the time to practice swimming with fins. It’ll help strengthen your leg muscles and allow you to swim over the reef at a pace that suits you, so you can cover as much of the reef as you want.

Breath holding

You don’t need to hold your breath when you’re snorkeling, as your snorkel allows you to breathe as you swim just beneath the surface of the ocean. If you learn how to dive under the water while snorkeling, you can get closer to the corals and fish below. Being able to hold your breath comfortably will make it easier for you to learn to duck dive.

You can practice holding your breath and even ask your snorkeling instructor to teach you to duck dive. Whatever you decide, the most important thing to remember when snorkeling is to slow down, relax, and let your fins do the work. You want to conserve your energy as much as possible so you can enjoy all that incredible marine life you’re seeing.

Wakatobi, Southeast Sulawesi


Wakatobi has an incredible array of snorkeling opportunities. Shallow house reefs and seagrass beds are literally just off the beaches, where you can go snorkeling with sea turtles and explore reefs teeming with fish.

You can also enjoy dozens of snorkeling spots if you hop on a dive boat and head to the outer reefs. Either way, remember to take your camera. The waters around Wakatobi are absolutely full of life.

Cenderawasih Bay, Papua/West Papua

If you want to snorkel with friendly whale sharks, make sure you visit Cenderawasih Bay. The bay is known for its whale sharks that local fishermen feed for good luck. The sharks are very tolerant of snorkelers and divers in the water.

Komodo National Park, East Nusa Tenggara

Komodo National Park is another top destination for snorkeling, and you can also see the Komodo dragons there. The waters host a variety of marine species including manta rays, seahorses, dolphins and plenty of big fish.

When you’ve had your fill of snorkeling, be sure to visit Komodo’s stunning pink sand beach – one of only seven pink sand beaches in the world.

Raja Ampat, West Papua

If you visit Raja Ampat, you’ll also have a chance to see manta rays, turtles, dolphins and plenty of smaller sharks. The many beautiful islands are dotted with reefs, which also make Raja Ampat an ideal place for taking a snorkeling and dive cruise.

Menjangan Island, Bali

This small island off the northwest coast of Bali is a real hidden gem. Part of the stunning West Bali National Park, it is a great place to try snorkeling and enjoy the pristine reefs.

Soekarno-Hatta Airport Set to Open Indonesia's First Low-Cost Carrier Terminal

Jakarta. Indonesia's first low-cost carrier terminal for international flights will open at the country's main airport outside Jakarta on Wednesday, aimed at encouraging more air travel in the archipelago and reducing airlines' costs.

State-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura II has stripped down Terminal 2F at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, forgoing amenities such as air-conditioning, duty-free shops, baggage handling and air bridges in favor of lower operating costs.

Angkasa Pura II president director Muhammad Awaluddin said the airport will now be able to expand its connectivity and market share, especially in the budget-airline sector.

"The budget-airline sector is growing rapidly across the world, including Southeast Asia, and Soekarno-Hatta is ready to seize a share of that market," he said last week.

Budget airline passengers made up around 30 percent of the 15.5 million international passengers who passed through Soekarno-Hatta Airport last year. The airport also saw the number of budget-airline passengers increase 2 percent year-on-year to 1.34 million in the first quarter.

Soekarno-Hatta Airport has also been busier, with 9,604 aircraft movements in the first quarter, up 5 percent compared with the same period last year.

"Cheap flights are popular with travelers, especially millennials. Around 60 percent of passengers at Soekarno-Hatta are millennials," Awaluddin said.

Airlines Moves

Eight low-cost carriers serving international routes will eventually operate from Terminal 2F.

Cebu Pacific and AirAsia's international flights, previously boarding at Terminal 2D, will now be at Terminal 2F, while Air Asia's domestic routes, previously at Terminal 2F, will be at Terminal 2D and Terminal 2E.

Sriwijaya Air, Indonesia's second-largest budget airline, will move to Terminal 2D from Terminal 2F. Carriers in the Lion Air Group – Lion Air, Thai Lion and Malindo Air – previously at Terminal 2D, will now also be at Terminal 2F.

Jetstar Asia will move to Terminal 2 from Terminal 3 on May 15, while Citilink and Tiger Scoot will do so later.

Complete Makeover

Terminal 2F forms part of a complete makeover of Terminal 2. Awaluddin said the terminal was designed for travelers who prioritize practicality, speed and convenience. To meet this need, the number of check-in desks in Terminal 2F will be halved to only 10 by 2022.

The number of self-service check-in kiosks will meanwhile be increased to 40, while self-service bag drop machines will also be doubled to 20 over the next three years.

"The services are [now] centered on digitalization, such as internet check-ins, self-check-ins and self-service bag drops. We call this 'technology implementation for value-added services.' Various technology-based services are also constantly updated," Awaluddin said.

"In general, Terminal 2F is designed for faster departures, a pleasant travel experience and unique value-added services," he added.

Budget airlines that open new international routes will receive incentives and free advertising on Angkasa Pura II's digital platforms and social media.

"Terminal 2 currently has a capacity of 9 million passengers per year. After renovations are completed in 2022, the capacity will increase to 24 million passengers per year," Awaluddin said.

Bali United Set to Become Southeast Asia's First Football Club to Go Public

Jakarta. Bali United is set to become the first professional football club in Southeast Asia to go public, with an initial public offering planned for next month.

The Gianyar-based club's foray into the capital marked also marks a key milestone in Indonesia's push to improve transparency and professionalism in its football industry, long plagued by corruption and mismanagement.

Bali Bintang Sejahtera, the company behind the football club, plans to sell a third of its enlarged capital and to list the shares on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX).

"Until now, we have always been asked to be more transparent and bring everyone closer together," said Yabes Tanuri, chief executive of Bali United.

"By going public, anyone can become a Bali United shareholder. We can become like a family, backing each other up. Be proud to guard, proud to be together, and also proud to own [the club]," Yabes said.

The company seeks between Rp 310 billion and Rp 350 billion ($22 million-$24 million) in fresh capital to expand its business. It plans to use about 19 percent of the proceeds for capital expenditure, to expand the club's sports and academic facilities. About 60 percent will be used as working capital, including the recruitment of coaches and players. The remainder will go toward strengthen the capital structures of subsidiaries.

Bali United is one of few football clubs in Indonesia that have raised funding independently of local government sponsorships. It also has an established football academy, to develop young talent, and a merchandise store, the largest of its kind in the country.

Among Bali Bintang Sejahtera's subsidiaries are sports agencies, which deal with sponsorships, manage match video streaming and produce advertising videos for sponsors. The company also has a subsidiary that manages cafés and restaurants, and another that operates a radio station.

Bali United will follow in the footsteps of only a few international clubs, such as AS Roma, Juventus, Lazio, Borussia Dortmund, Celtic, Arsenal and Manchester United, that have gone public in recent years.

Timeline

The club has appointed Buana Capital Securities and Kresna Sekuritas to underwrite its IPO. Book building will take place between April 26 and May 7 to gauge investor interest.

The company expects to secure approval from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) on May 15.

The public offering is scheduled for May 17-21 and Bali Bintang Sejahtera hopes to list the club's shares on the IDX by May 27, under the BOLA ticker symbol.

Bali Bintang Sejahtera's prospectus shows moderate financial performance, having booked net income of Rp 4.75 billion last year – an almost tenfold increase from the previous year – after repaying debt to affiliated parties and selling its holdings in several mutual funds.

Revenue has doubled to Rp 115.2 billion after the club managed to both increase visitor numbers and ticket prices at its Kapten I Wayan Dipta Stadium.

The company also saw an increase in sponsorships after Bali United joined the Asian Football Confederation and finished as runner-up in Liga 1 – Indonesia's top-tier professional league – in 2017.

Bali United finished in 11th place in Liga 1 in the 2018 season.

The Kardashians’ Flying Commercial Is a Sight to Behold

After a short hiatus, the Kardashian family has reclaimed our Sunday night to teach us a thing or two about how tragic our family vacations are compared to theirs. And, if you’re anything like me, you’re ready to get lost in a past where the Kardashian family is frolicking in Bali so as to not remember that we live in a present where Kanye West is selling expensive church merch.

On this week’s episode the A-plot was Kourtny POOSH-ing Khloés buttons; our B-plot was the family’s trip to Bali; and our C-plot was the leftover Jenners in Calabasas. #LEGGO

Scene 3:

The stars of this future Emmy-nominated series treated us to another extravaganza featuring our favorite family trapped in a villa in a far away land. This year, that land is Bali. For the last six months, the word “Bali” has rung in our ears, from early media reports of the family’s trip, to teasers for the show, and then each mention of the trip that was crammed into the first two episodes. This episode has the family beginning its journey like peasants, flying commercial, taking up the entirety of United Airlines’ First Class cabin for an 18-hour flight to Indonesia. It’s the eve of Kimberly’s 38th birthday, and because it will mostly be spent in the air, she’s choosing not to acknowledge the fact that she’s a year older. United didn’t get this message though, so they’ve strung up “Happy Birthday” banners in the aisle and provided a cake and bottles of Champagne for the mile-high occasion. Even though Kim is never seen sipping on the sweet sustenance provided by the airline, we do see her son, Saint, wielding a knife to try to cut his own piece of cake in the galley.


While the toddler handles a knife just steps away from the cockpit, Khloé is frustrated with her job as a nanny on the trip. Before the family took off, Khloé expressed concern over flying so far and for such a long flight with True, and she’s so stressed she ends up being the only one who remains awake with True and her sisters’ children. In the dark, illuminated only by the blessed glow of a cabin overhead light, Khloé corrals the kids and plays games with them while Kourtney gets 15 hours of beauty rest. This scene was filmed on October 20, 2018 and October 21, 2018.

Scene 6/Scene 7:

In what seems to be an attempt at getting a Travel Channel spin-off, we’re treated to more and more and more footage of the family traveling to Bali. Don’t get me wrong, it is fascinating to see the family, which often flies private, struggle with the space constraints of commercial planes, but watching people board planes doesn’t exactly make appointment TV. In any case, once they are freed from their 18-hour journey, the Kardashian-Jenner-West-Webster-Thompsons wait in a lounge for their second flight. Kourtney, now rested, plays on her phone while Khloé tries to keep True from being yanked out of her arms by Mason. She’s used as a jungle gym for the younger children while their parents look on. Noticeably irritated, Khloé reminds her nieces and nephews that True is “just a baby,” in hopes that they simmer down now and find it in their souls to finally fall asleep.

As Khloé struggles with her transition into Mary Poppins, Kourtney, in her confessional, proudly tells the camera how amazing it is to travel with her kids now that they’re older. Khloé’s trying to hold her tongue instead of lashing out on Kourtney’s hands-off approach to parenting, because the sisters made a pact to not get angry with one another this trip. Once they’re on their final plane, Kim is greeted by more birthday decorations, and though Kourtney is not tired, she’s still not happy.


Looking through her makeup bags, Kourtney tells Scott and Khloé that her assistant is going to get a stern talking to, because she didn’t pack her travel cosmetics properly. Even though there was an inventory list of every item that should go in every bag, somehow Kourtney has too many lip liners and lipsticks that are too similar in shades! Pulling out each makeup item to really drive her point home, Kourtney then decides to email her assistant right then and there with her grievance. Khloé and Scott are mesmerized by her ability to get so upset by cosmetics, and Khloé tells her sister that she should just pack her own makeup bags. Kourtney snips that she hates doing it, and Khloé agrees that if you’re paying someone to do something for you they should do it properly. Scott, sits in silence, possibly praying that Sofia Richie doesn’t know how to count and identify colors as well as Kourt and that they will never face this same issue. This scene was filmed on October 21, 2018.

















Scene 10:

The family has finally reached its Villa in Bali, and the adults sit down for a meal. Khloé is tired and frustrated that a crew member lied and told her True’s belongings were already situated in their room, when in fact they weren’t. She tries to relax, while Kim tells her sisters how excited she is for daily tea ceremonies and the chance to find some peace. Kourtney agrees, saying she wants to do some serious soul searching and mentions that Khloé should do the same. This sets Khloé off.

Khloé, already upset with Kourtney’s lack of help during the trip, is furious that her sister thinks she’s the one who needs some emotional help. She tells Kourtney that simply saying this is not “a good soul thing to say.” Kourtney tries to claim that she was joking, and mentions that she’s the chill one since Khloé got mad about her bags the minute they landed. Khloé tells Kourtney that she’s “on crack” if she thinks she’s chill, and at least Khloé got upset over something involving her child and not something involving her makeup bag. Still, Kourtney laughs this off, assuming Khloé’s anger is temporary or rooted in this one issue. As her sisters fight, Kim tells the table that she’s going to take a mental Xanax. Not a real one because the kids are there, but a mental once, which, okay.

Scott, looks on at the sisters, happy to be invited back into the family trip fold, and jokes that he “misses” their international bickering. After letting just a hint of her rage out on Kourtney, Khloé storms out. This scene was filmed on October 21, 2018, which we know because Khloé is still in her travel attire, and Kim’s hair is still bone straight.








Scene 15:

Not to alarm you, but while the Kardashian sisters and Scott are in Bali, life is still going on back in Calabasas. Left behind due to various types of work, lunches, and parties, Kendall, Kylie, and Kris Jenner enjoy a meal with one another. Kris tries to talk to her girls, who constantly talk over her as they breakdown the early 2000’s look Kendall wore at Drake’s birthday party the night before. Kylie loved Kendall’s look when she saw it in a video, but told her sister that the photos made her hair look “awko-taco.”

After they’re done dissecting Kendall’s costume, Kylie and Kris claim to be twins due to a set of diamond earrings. Kris was just gifted hers by Corey, and Kylie has been eyeing the same pair, but with a pink diamond. It’s beginning to seem that it’s impossible for the three women to speak to one another as a group, so while Kris and Kylie converse, Kendall hops on her phone to call her grandmother, MJ.


A few weeks ago, MJ felt disconnected from Kris, and now Kendall has called to tell MJ that she and Kylie took Kris out so she could get some break time from all of her distracting responsibilities. No, this doesn’t create any real bonding time for Kris and her mother, but Kendall follows up by telling MJ that she and Kylie will hang out with her a little more often. MJ loves this! And, so does Kris. She’s glad to share the responsibility of keeping MJ company. This scene was filmed on October 24, 2018.








Scene 16:

Back in Bali, a heavily bronzed Khloé attempts to have a nice conversation with Kourtney. Khloé’s trying to work out some scheduling issues she’s having with Tristan. He hasn’t seen True in weeks, and because Khloé agreed to do a Halloween photo shoot with her sisters, she has to stay in Los Angeles for one more day, delaying her trip to see Tristan in Cleveland.

Khloé says she’ll do the shoot, but tells Kourtney that she’s not excited to spend her Sunday in glam for an at-home photo shoot that’s just for Instagram. Kourtney tells Khloé that this issue sounds personal, and as she’s a “grown woman with a child,” she could have easily said no. Now Kourtney’s annoyed at Khloé’s complaints, and Khloé’s annoyed that Kourtney’s allowed to vent but she isn’t. They just aren’t seeing eye to eye, and each sister thinks the other’s problems are pointless. This scene seems to have been filmed on October 22, 2018, the sister’s second night in Bali.






Scene 17:

Taking a break from their villa, the family boards an old pirate ship / yacht for some light swimming and heavy Instagramming. In between Mason taking shots of his scantily clad mother on a ladder and Kim walking the literal plank for the ‘gram, the family enjoys the luxury of yacht life — a staple of any family vacation, Khloé mentions. Khloé’s got “no tolerance” for Kourtney and since they still aren’t on great terms, Khloé minds her business and generally hangs out with True while Scott, Kim, and Kourtney jump off of the yacht into the ocean. This scene was filmed near the beginning of their Bali trip on or around October 24, 2018.












Scene 24:

On the advice of her mother, Khloé asks Kourtney if they can have a chat. Kourtney agrees, and the sisters head to the beach for their reconciliation. Khloé acknowledges that when they try to communicate with one another, they both get defensive and she’ll try to be aware of that more going forward. However, she tells Kourtney that sometimes she doesn’t think before she speaks, or she’ll act both passive and passive aggressively. Kourtney says that it’s probably because she’s rarely paying attention, which is exactly what Khloé thinks, too. Khloé doesn’t think that Kourtney has any malicious intent, but by not thinking, her actions seem … malicious. Kourtney says she’ll be more present and she thanks Khloé for helping to raise everyone’s kids because it’s a “nice thing.” The sisters resolved their issues on or around October 26, 2018.

Jakarta. Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto said in a speech during yet another victory declaration on Friday that people would take to the streets if his camp found that the quick-count results of the April 17 presidential election had been manipulated.

During a gathering in South Jakarta, the former Army general claimed for the fourth time in two days that he had won the 2019 presidential election, based on data compiled by his campaign team. The gathering was initially planned for the Istiqlal Mosque, the country's largest, in Central Jakarta, but later moved out of respect for Christians celebrating Good Friday, which is a public holiday in Indonesia. The mosque is across the road from the Jakarta Cathedral.

"If there are clear efforts to infringe on the people's rights, we won't accept it. We, all of us, will take action in accordance with the Constitution," Prabowo said during the "Gratitude for Victory in the 2019 Presidential Election" event at his family residence in Jalan Kertanegara.

In what appears to have been a subtle call on supporters to prepare for mass action, he said Indonesia's 1945 Constitution guarantees the right of all citizens to gather in the streets and express their opinions.

However, he called on supporters not to be provoked by narratives from those he claimed are planning to disrupt the national unity. "There is nothing wrong with us upholding justice. We want truth and justice!" he said.

Yudhoyono Raises Concern

Democratic Party chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who is an influential ally of Prabowo, warned members of his party on Friday not to commit any unconstitutional acts. He also ordered those serving on Prabowo's campaign team to return to the party's headquarters to consolidate.

The former president is still in Singapore, where his wife is currently receiving medical treatment.

"Regarding the political situation after the election, which shows increasing tension and could lead to a dangerous political and security situation, I instruct all officials ... to continue monitoring closely what is happening in the motherland," Yudhoyono reportedly said.

'Habib Organization' Calls for Unity

Habib Zen bin Smith, chairman of Rabithah Alawiyah, an organization for habib, or Islamic scholars from the Sayyid community, who are descendants of the Prophet Muhammad, released a statement on Friday calling for national unity in Indonesia, the world's biggest Muslim-majority country.

"Whatever the results, we must maintain ukhuwah [a brotherly spirit]. Elections are important, but what is more important, is to maintain our unity as a nation," he said.

Meanwhile, in response to Prabowo's apparent call for mass action, Indonesian Military (TNI) chief Air Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto warned that the military would not tolerate any moves that may disturb the peace.

He said the military and police would maintain stability while the vote-counting process is underway.

He was speaking at a press conference attended by National Police chief Gen. Tito Karnavian and high-level military and police officials at the offices of Chief Security Minister Wiranto.

"The Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia is non-negotiable," Hadi said.

From the exit polls and first counts it appears most likely that Indonesia's President Joko Widodo we will continue for another term.

Unless there is a major change in the coming hours Indonesia can look forward to another four years of prosperous growth, improvement in corruption and become The Roaring Lion that I've always said it would become.

After living and prospering here for 22 years I am convinced that business in Indonesia will improve rapidly in the next few years, especially tourism and real estate which I am involved in.

My wife and I just purchased our first real estate that I purchased in Bali for over 10 years.

I was one of the first foreigners in Bali to invest heavily in real estate in 2002 and have seen dramatic growth up until 2014 when I became bearish.

Early results show President Joko Widodo takes a lead in Indonesia's elections

(CNN)Partial early results from the Indonesian election show incumbent President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo taking a lead over longtime rival and former military strongman Prabowo Subianto.
An initial count of Wednesday's ballots put Jokowi on around 55% of the vote, with Prabowo winning around 44%.
Most pre-election opinion polls had given Jokowi a double-digit lead, though he had copped criticism from analysts and former supporters who say he has failed to deliver on issues such as human rights -- and compromised his values of pluralism to score political points.
Final official results will be announced by May 22.

Joko Widodo: Has the shine worn off Indonesia's Obama?
Some 192.8 million people were eligible to vote across the archipelago's 17,000 islands in what is the world's biggest direct presidential election.
It's been billed as one of the most complicated single-day ballots ever under taken. For the first time, Indonesia held its presidential and legislative elections on the same day, with more than 245,000 candidates running for over 20,000 seats. More than 800,000 polling stations and six million election workers helped to pull it off.
Only the Indian elections are bigger (with 900 million people eligible to vote) and they are held over a period of almost six weeks. Indonesia's elections take place over just six hours.

A logistical feat spanning mountains and jungles

Indonesians were actually asked to casting five ballots -- for the president and vice-president, for members of the 575-seat House of Representatives, for the Regional Representative Council (or Senate), provincial legislators, and district and city councils.
Polling began at 7 a.m. local time and voters had until 1 p.m. to cast their ballots before polls closed and the counting started.
Ensuring this mega-poll in the world's third largest democracy would go off without a hitch was a logistical feat, with election workers traveling by boat to remote islands, scaling mountains to reach hill-top villages and trekking through jungles -- sometimes on horses -- to bring ballot boxes within range of every voter.
"The logistics of this election are fiendishly complicated," said Ben Bland, director of the Southeast Asia Project at the Lowy Institute.
"Indonesians are spread over hundreds if not thousands of islands, many of these places are very remote and mountain villages, you have to access some places by small boats, on foot in some cases. And remember that many different areas have different ballots because they're voting for different local candidates," said Bland.
"So for the election commission to get all these thousands of different kinds of ballot paper to 800,000 polling stations across Indonesia is a real geographical and logistical feat."

But there has also been reported allegations of voting irregularities, with Prabowo and his team claiming there were voter lists that included names of the dead and those not eligible to vote and vowing to take action if their concerns were ignored. The Election Commission is investigating the claims.
Indonesia's election watchdog has called for a revote for more than 300,000 Indonesians living in neighboring Malaysia because officials discovered invalid ballots, which were punched by non-voters, and other uncast ballots.
"There is convincing proof that the Overseas Election Committee in Kuala Lumpur did not carry out its task of conducting the 2019 election objectively, transparently and professionally," the election committee said in a statement.
It comes after video purportedly showed pre-marked ballot papers for Jokowi in Malaysia.
While Indonesia is a relatively new democracy following the fall of the Suharto regime in 1998, Bland said the nation has a "pretty good track record" of keeping the election free and fair.
"Its important to understand just how hard it is for countries transitioning from authoritarianism to democracy to do so successfully, and how hard it is in a big developing country to hold successful elections," he said, citing Nigeria and Afghanistan which have delayed their elections because of logistical problems.
"Meanwhile in Thailand there's an impasse at the moment because of uncertainties of the counting process and the role of the military government in that so I think Indonesia deserves credit for the way its built up a pretty resilient election system," he said.

The challengers
Polls suggest that Jokowi, 57, is likely to win a second term. A former furniture salesman, Jokowi became mayor of Surakarta in 2005 and then Jakarta governor in 2012.
In 2014, he campaigned on a promise of creating jobs, bolstering human rights and cracking down on corruption. The public was sold and swept in the self-styled man-of-the-people over his military strongman opponent, Prabowo, now 67.

Once again, Jokowi was competing against Prabowo, a retired army general and son-in-law of former president and authoritarian dictator Suharto. His running mate is Sandiaga Uno, a businessman and vice governor of Jakarta who was named by Forbes in 2013 as Indonesia's 47th richest man, with an estimated net worth of $460 million.
During campaigning, Prabowo seized on his rival's economic failings, slamming Jokowi for allowing food prices to rise and calling for better quality jobs.
Jokowi's choice of Ma'ruf Amin, a hardline Muslim cleric for his running mate, may have bolstered his religious credentials by appealing to Islamic hardliners that have traditionally supported Prabowo. But it could have also turn off some those who voted for him in 2014 for his commitment to religious freedom.

Youth vote
Some 80 million 18-35 year-olds -- about 40% of the electorate -- were eligible to cast a ballot this year and both candidates have made efforts to appeal to them.
Jokowi beamed a hologram of himself around the nation, featured his pet goat on social media, and made references to the television show "Game of Thrones."
Prabowo, meanwhile, focused on issues such as unemployment which are likely to appeal to younger voters who are struggling with an unemployment rate of about 15.8%, according to World Bank figures.
"Millennials are very important to the two candidates," said Hasanuddin Ali, chief executive of research company Alvara Research Center. "Millennial voters are also a key success factor in the Indonesian election."

Indonesia election: violence-wracked province calls for independence
But it could prove a hard sell. Analysts say there is widespread disengagement from young people towards politics and they are put off by high levels of corruption and distrust in the system.
"Some don't feel like they're being equally represented," said Ella Prihatini, an academic with the Center for Muslim States and Societies at the University of Western Australia.
Others are concerned that minority rights continue to be eroded -- over the past few years police raids and vigilante attacks on members of the LGBT community have increased and last year the country made moves to criminalize homosexual sex.
"I think it's unfair to expect LGBT Indonesians to vote when we're not even considered a part of this nation," said Amahl Sharif Azwar, a 32-year-old gay Indonesian freelance writer who lives in Thailand.
