A new way to spend Sunday on Bali's East Coast - Go-Carts

Yesterday my day began with  a brilliant sun rise at Bali Paradise Beach Estates where I could see 119 km to Lombok and it's towering 3,600 high Mount Rinjani.

Later we took our two boys Xander and Darius to the Bali Speed Go-Kart just a few minutes drive from our house in Purnama at Bali Paradise Beach Estates.

Bali Speed Go-Kart is a specialised racetrack in Gianyar where you and your friends and family can have a thrilling time, especially if you’ve got a need for speed.

Unlike Canadian go-cart offerings our youngest Darius who will reach 10 this week was also able to enjoy a ride in a smaller cart.

What's nice is it's not too busy yet and therefore the wait was not too long.

Our boys were able to enjoy the track all by themselves, which put eliminated our worries about safety.
A few tips from dad on how to keep close to the tire barrier on the curves plus if you're squealing rubber you're losing traction and off they went.

It wasn't long before they both got the feel of the track and Xander especially was zooming around like a professional.

Mom watched and no doubt realized that her boys were not little kids anymore but old enough and talented enough to handle sophisticated go karts.

Xander looked like a real pro-formula driver in a smart jacket and helmet which is provided by them.

At the end we were quite surprised to discover that on the first round Xander had reached the top 10 speed of all the racers for the day which 10th. out of some where between 20 and 30.

Considering he had to slow down many times to pass his brother this is quite an accomplishment.

Not to be satisfied with number 10 on the second round he reached number two for the day and number 10 for the entire week out of maybe 100 to 150 drivers.

I can only assume that there are many kids and adults that have been on this track several times and to reach number 10 for the week was quite an accomplishment.

My only fear is he will want to do it often, which is a little bit dangerous and expensive.

More important is hopefully he won't want to be a professional driver because any professional Formula One driver will tell you that it is one of the most dangerous professions in the world. Drivers get killed all the time.

Later we went just down the road to the beach on the right-hand side of the Komune Beach club and had dinner. The four of us for less than $30.

All in all it was a very pleasant day on Bali's East Coast which to me is the only place to live in Bali.

No traffic, lots of activities including famous  Beach clubs and arguably Bali's largest tourist attractions the Safari Park plus and many other attractions to keep the boys busy.

Most attractive is the fact that not once during the entire day did we run into any traffic jams.

Quite a difference from travelling around Double Six road and Seminyak the day before where every corner was gridlock, during low season.

Due to the central location of Bali Speed Go-Kart, you can easily reach it from Denpasar, Sanur, Gianyar, Ubud and even Kuta within only an hour’s transfer. Their karts are well-equipped and extensive safety measures are in place, such as safety marshals, tyre walls and of course, helmets and seatbelts.
