Insider tip: Bali also has a wild side
Last updated 11:14, October 17 2017
The sunset from Alila Seminyak is a picture-perfect.
Bali may have a reputation for being a tropical paradise where poolside drinks never run dry, but don't be fooled. She also has a wild side.
Delve a little deeper like I did and you'll be rewarded with a swathe of activities to get that adrenaline pumping.
First stop for thrill seekers ... paragliding off the beachside cliffs in Kuta. Soar high across the beautiful Java Sea and take in the stunning coastline from a bird's eye views. Hands down one of the best experiences I've ever had.
If land based adrenaline is more your style then try whitewater rafting on Ayung River near Ubud. A natural rollercoaster, you'll raft through vortexes of swirling foamy water and discover hidden waterfalls.
After getting the blood pumping take some time out and relax; the Alila Seminyak is the perfect place to do this. With three infinity pools and a beachfront bar with bean bags you'll be spoilt for relaxation spots!
While there check out Seasalt Restaurant and enjoy one of their famous cocktails. Each one uses a different type of salt. My must-try recommendations: the Ginger Beer Margarita and Spicy Passionarita with a charcoal salt rim. Added bonus, this resort is super environmentally friendly, with a zero-to-landfill status!
