Bali to Hold 2017 International Open Piano Competitioni
Jakarta. Bali will host the International Open Piano Competition at the Padma Resort Legian on Sept. 23-24.
"We chose Bali to hold this venue as it was chosen as TipAdvisor's best destination this year," Eleonora Aprilita, the event's organizing committee chairman, said in Denpasar on Thursday (31/08).
Similar to last year’s competition in Bali, all pianists and violinists will perform in Balinese traditional outfits with udeng(Balinese headscarf) and sarung.
The competition will be divided into two groups consisting of a total of 12 categories.
The first group is Repertoire for Selection Choice Category: A (age <7), B (8-9 year olds), C (10-11 year olds), D (12-14 year olds), E (15-17 year olds) and F (age >18).
"The other group is called Free Choice Category, in which participants from group A to F are free to play any baroque musical piece from the years 1600-1750, classical pieces from the years 1750-1820, romantic pieces from the years 1800-1900 or modern pieces from the 20th to 21st centuries," Eleonora explained.
The competition consists of elimination and final rounds where each participant has to perform one song in each round.
There will be three winners from each category and each winner will bring home a trophy, award certificate and sponsored prizes.
Eleonora is targeting to attract more than 160 participants.
"There are many international contestants who have registered, including from Germany, Australia, Korea and China," she said.
